Awaken Bible Prophecy Update 11-1-23: Jews Aren’t Really Jews & Other Follies

Psalm 137:5-6 recounts the ode of the Jewish people:

If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget its skill!
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
    above my highest joy!

Given the fact that the whole world is drunk with hostility toward Israel and the Jews, including a large portion of the professing Christian community, just like this psalm, we also must continue keeping God’s Promised Land and His Chosen People front and center.

The Jews who first came back to resettle Israel in the early 1900s were Zionists.  They believed that the Jewish people deserved their own independent nation.  When Israel officially became that nation on May 14, 1948, it was the initial fulfillment of the prophecy in Ezekiel 37 of the Valley of Dry Bones.

In 135 AD the Jews had been completely defeated by the Romans and were scattered to the winds.  The emperor Hadrian rubbed cayenne pepper in the presumably fatal wound by renaming the land for Israel’s most hated enemies: the Philistines.  Thus, Israel – with a little word magic – became Palestine for a time.  Over the years a few Arabs settled in the land.  They were Egyptian Arabs or Iraqi Arabs, etc., but they were never Palestinians.  There was never a Palestinian people, just like there was never a true nation of Palestine, other than the fabricated knife-in-the-back land designated by the Romans.

As Joan Peters learned in her research, the whole Palestinian narrative is a complete fabrication.  Joan was a mainstream journalist with a bias against Israel and toward the Palestinians.  Her expose concerning her discovery that totally changed her views is documented in her book From Time Immemorial (currently not available for purchase on Amazon).

If you would like to see an illustrated history of Israel, this twelve-year-old video linked in the transcript titled Debunking the Palestinian Lie does a great job.

God – true to His Word – once He scattered His people – made the land an absolute waste.  Mark Twain in his travelogue book titled Innocents Abroad cataloged how desolate the area was:

The further we went the hotter the sun got, and the more rocky and bare, repulsive and dreary the landscape became…There was hardly a tree or a shrub anywhere. Even the olive and the cactus, those fast friends of a worthless soil, had almost deserted the country.

Many are Israel’s forsaken places, and great is the desecration. The more sacred the place, the greater the devastation it has suffered. Jerusalem is the most desolate place of all.

When the Jews determined to return to their homeland, they had a lot of work to do.  Most were secular and have remained so to this day.  But as Zionists, they were fulfilling the destiny God had ordained for them.

We who are Christ-followers should honor this because it is God’s will.  We also should be Zionists supporting the Jewish people as they live out what God intends for their future.  God has always promised that the Jews would have their own nation with Him at the center.  We do well to be on God’s side in this matter and support Israel’s sovereignty and integrity.  I think this is a crucial issue surrounding our personal salvation destiny.  As Christians, we better love what God loves.  If we don’t, that’ll be a big problem when we stand before Him.

Today, we’ll look at several foolish notions surrounding this idea that Jews aren’t Jews, as Israel confronts her greatest challenge since the War of Independence in 1948.

We’ll pray, read from God’s Word, then discuss these things.

Scripture:

Psalm 149:4-9

For the Lord takes pleasure in his people;
he adorns the humble with salvation.
Let the godly exult in glory;
let them sing for joy on their beds.
Let the high praises of God be in their throats
and two-edged swords in their hands,
to execute vengeance on the nations
and punishments on the peoples,
to bind their kings with chains
and their nobles with fetters of iron,
to execute on them the judgment written!
This is honor for all his godly ones.
Praise the Lord!

Jews Aren’t Really Jews & Other Follies

  • Zechariah 12:2-3 describes the final days at the end of the Tribulation, but it perfectly captures the absolute craziness in the world today, as those who disdain and hate God come against that which He loves:

“Behold, I am about to make Jerusalem a cup of staggering to all the surrounding peoples. The siege of Jerusalem will also be against Judah. On that day I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples. All who lift it will surely hurt themselves. And all the nations of the earth will gather against it.

  • The incident a couple days ago at a Russian airport in one of the “Stans” of Russia – Dagestan – illustrates this point
  • A flight came in from Tel Aviv and was swarmed by a pro-Palestinian mob seeking out any Jews that might be coming into their country
  • Apparently, they intended to lynch any Jews they found
  • Here is a lovely sentiment that was expressed:
  • “We came for the Jews—to kill them with a knife and shoot them,” a rioter was quoted as saying.
  • This is danger on steroids for any Jews anywhere out in public
  • In numerous nations over the last several days, large crowds have gathered to protest Israel in support of the so-called Palestinian people and even of Hamas
  • When you support cold-blooded killers who rape and decapitate their victims, and who commit atrocities so unspeakable that nobody can even talk about them, you are drunk with evil
  • This is the tsunami of hate that has overtaken so much of the world
  • Israel is despised and seen as the greatest boogeyman of all times

  • A couple of pictures from a recent article illustrate this phenomenon
  • The first – as the label on the picture notes – is the reality of Israel in relation to her Muslim neighbors
  • She is miniscule in land mass and population versus the many nations that hate her . . .
  • You can barely find Israel on a map surrounded and overwhelmed as she is by the 58 Muslim countries in the region
  • These Muslim enclaves comprise a land mass 5,000 times that which Israel possesses
  • The next picture depicts how Israel is seen and considered by all those who hate her
  • It’s ludicrous, but when you consider how the Jews are supposedly behind every wicked scheme throughout the world and have been since time immemorial, this illustration serves the point . . .
  • For the sake of additional reality, we need to see what God said would be the entire land mass of Israel
  • This next picture shows us that the little state of Israel today is a far cry from what God will ultimately bring about for the Holy Land . . .
  • Just to provide another look at this in relation to the nations surrounding Israel today, we can see that something has to change dramatically
  • It’s in this spirit that I believe that what we’re currently seeing is most likely the Psalm 83 War
  • As I previously argued in a recent Commentary titled Israel’s Psalm 83 Prophesied Land Grab, the results of this war would expand Israel’s borders significantly
  • You can see in this next illustration how much closer to what God intended such a war with such an outcome would look like . . .
  • It’s in this spirit that I mention the ideas behind the title of this Update
  • In the minds of many people today, Jews aren’t really Jews
  • Because of that, they have no claim to the land of Israel
  • I’ll mention just three of these follies that have come to my attention, but no doubt there are many more floating out there in the mind-bending, phantasmagorical ethers of the internet

  1. Jews are the driving force behind all the globalist plans
  • It is an astounding reality that God has immensely blessed the Jewish people on many levels
  • Here are several Jews who have impacted the world for better or for worse:
    • Albert Einstein – Theory of Relativity
    • Sigmund Freud – Psychoanalysis
    • Karl Marx – Communism
    • Theodor Herzl – One of the original Zionists advocating for a Jewish state
    • Levi Strauss – Inventor of blue jeans
    • William Fox – Pioneered 20th Century Fox film studios
    • Sergey Brin & Larry Page – Co-creators of Google
    • Edwin land – Inventor of the Polaroid camera
    • Isaac Asimov – Prolific science fiction author who conceived of the Three laws of Robotic
    • Edward Teller – Known as the “father of the hydrogen bomb”
    • And the list goes on and on
    • But let us not forget Jesus – the most influential Jew who ever walked this planet
  • Jews have been extremely instrumental in all aspects of life
  • This is not a coincidence
  • This is a result of the blessings of God
  • However, just because God blesses you doesn’t mean that you’ll honor, revere, and serve Him
  • It’s because of this that the world sees Jews as powerful, and a possible detrimental force
  • They get blamed for literally everything
  • So it is that we have George Soros as a major negative Jewish influence
  • Plus Henry Kissinger with his long-held globalist beliefs
  • And many more
  • You can sympathize in a sense with those who charge Jews with holding all the levers of power and pushing their own agenda
  • Jews are people who are sinful in nature just like everyone else
  • However – as we’ll see – that doesn’t make it right to oppose them on the level that so much of mankind does
  • It certainly doesn’t go over well with God
  • Many in the professing Christian community are showing their antisemitic credentials by attributing this current Israel-Hamas War to the Jews who want to rule the world
  • Real Christian or faux – I don’t know – but most of them neglect to consider what’s happening from a Scriptural perspective
  • God is allowing all this to happen
  • A spiritual battle of unknown proportions is in play
  • Just think if Satan were to energize his human combatants so successfully that they annihilated Israel
  • So much for God, His omnipotence, and His Word of truth seen through Bible prophecy
  • If God be proved a liar, we might as well serve Satan who exposed Him as such
  • But that will not happen – I guarantee you
  • The globalist cabal is no doubt instrumental in the current conflict, but only because God is allowing it and will be glorified through it all in some way

  1. Jews are thugs from Poland
  • This is among the most ridiculous of claims that I’ve heard
  • You’ll recall that when I spoke about Stew Peters recently in my Prophecy Update titled: The Dangers of Replacement Theology – And Now Stew Peters, that he was speaking to a guest on his program named Dr. Michael Jones
  • To reiterate from that Update:
    • Jones questions if Israel has a pass on civilized behavior.
    • He states that there isn’t one thing the Palestinians have done that Israel hasn’t already done to them.
    • He considers Gaza a prison camp.
    • Regarding Hamas, he says, “Don’t pretend that this is an unprovoked attack. They’ve been provoked for years, and for years the Israelis have treated them as less and less human.”
    • He then goes on to say:

“The problem lies with the Scofield Bible.  Christian Zionist groups are reading the Scofield Bible and they take all those promises out of context . . .  This is a group of Polish thugs [referring to the Jewish people] who came in after WW2 and used the Holocaust to steal the land from Palestine.  There’s no DNA or theological connection with the Jews and Israel.

  • So, in the mind of Jones, the Jews who inhabit Israel are simply a collection of ne’er-do-wells who apparently thought Israel would be a better place to live than Poland
  • They are obviously Gentiles who have disguised themselves as Jews since there’s no heredity connecting the two
  • Jones is as ignorant as the day is long
  • Refer back to my earlier references and proofs in this Update
  • The sad thing is that Stew Peters, Mike Adams, and far too many of like mind have bought the lie of the world and are hostile to Israel
  • Once more, I say this will be to their ultimate detriment with God

  1. Jews are really Edomites
  • This is apparently a “thing” out there in some portions of internet-land
  • It has also been adopted by people who really should know better
  • I heard of this the other day from a friend whose daughter attends the homeschool co-op I help out with, but who also goes to classes at an associated co-op
  • The teacher in a literature class – who is Catholic (which obviously causes major theological confusion) – for some reason stated to the kids in class that there are no real Jews any longer
  • All real Jews are dead according this fellow
  • If I have the story right, likely around 70 AD when Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans, some number of Jews converted to Christianity, while the rest of the Jews were all killed
  • Since they became Christians, they gave up or lost their Jewish identity
  • This would probably be news to Jesus that since He is a “Christian”, He is no longer a Jew – go figure
  • Those people who call themselves Jews or Israelites today are in actuality imposters – really descendants of the Edomites
  • Because of all this, there is no legitimate Jewish state
  • As there are no Jews, there is no rationale for there to be a nation of Israel
  • Thus, the Palestinian cause is the correct and proper one since they are the people group who have lived in the land for thousands of years
  • The truth is an elusive thing for some people

  • Are we having fun yet?
  • Is anybody’s head spinning at this nonsense?
  • Then there there’s an apparently Messianic Jewish believer living in the US who reads and speaks Hebrew
  • In a video I watched; he was making the case – incorrectly in my estimation – that God doesn’t bless those who bless Israel
  • His contention is that we get Genesis 12:3 and Genesis 3:15 all wrong
  • Since God is saying what He does to Abraham, it’s not to his descendants, i.e. Israel, that the blessings come or the curses; rather the curse is upon those who dishonor Jesus and all Christ-followers
  • Thus, Israel isn’t the objective in this declaration
  • What is the truth?
  • I feel like Pontius Pilate asking that, but my intent is far from what his was
  • I think we need to get one thing straight
  • God is sovereign and omniscient
  • He is omnipotent and omnipresent
  • He is a covenant-keeping God
  • The promises He made to Israel remain because of who God is
  • If He will lie about keeping His promises to the Jews like a mere man might do, we as Christians have a problem as well
  • Why should we expect the promises He made to us to hold true?
  • There is the notion also out there that 10 of the tribes of Israel are lost
  • Seriously?
  • You don’t think God knows where every single descendant of these tribes is?
  • How might it be that He appoints 12,000 evangelists from every tribe – all twelve of them – during the Tribulation?
  • God in some fashion comes up with them
  • Now, about the three issues I laid out . . .
  • #1 – I don’t doubt that among the Jews in Israel and around the world there are many globalists
  • We have only to consider Yuval Noah Harari – WEF founder Klaus Schwab’s right-hand man and my favorite candidate for the False Prophet
  • Harari is front and center in the demonic effort to replace God with a transhuman eternal being
  • That doesn’t mean that all Jews are like him
  • #2 – As for the Jews being a bunch of Gentile thugs from Europe; that could be connected to the Ashkenazi Jew issue
  • There is a high probability in my estimation that Gentiles in the Ashkenaz region of Europe converted, i.e. became Jews, at a time of significant pressure from Catholicism
  • One can be a proselyte, i.e. a convert to Judaism, so that’s reasonable
  • The question is: Was the intent of these people to become real Jews or to simply escape potential persecution?
  • Surely there were some number of those who had the right heart intent
  • On the other hand, if the thinking is that the fake Jews, so to speak, were the ones who came and resettled the land leading up to 1948, I find that highly specious
  • It’s hard for me to believe that those who had no connection and no love for the land of Israel would come and spend their lives bringing it back to life
  • It was hard, dirty, dangerous work
  • If you want to read a great fictional account of the Jews returning to the land and the many problems that had with the few Arabs living there at the time, I recommend The Haj by Leon Uris
  • I think the book provides a realistic picture of what the Jews faced during those difficult years
  • #3 – Finally, the fallacy of Jews being Edomites
  • Where does one begin?
  • Jacob and Esau were twin brothers
  • Jacob received the covenant blessing handed down from Abraham to Isaac to him
  • Esau despised the spiritual blessing but he was blessed with many descendants and much provision
  • Esau told Jacob in Genesis 33:9:

“I have enough, my brother; keep what you have for yourself.”

  • Isn’t it a shame that those who came after Esau don’t have the same perspective?
  • Jacob had numerous encounters with God who instructed him to live in the land of Israel (Canaan at the time)
  • Esau founded Edom, which is also referred to as Mount Seir
  • Edom was in present-day Jordan
  • Because of how the Edomites treated the Israelites in their Exodus, God declared numerous curses on them
  • Here is one such curse as noted in Isaiah 34:8-12:

For the Lord has a day of vengeance,
a year of recompense for the cause of Zion.
And the streams of Edom shall be turned into pitch,
and her soil into sulfur;
her land shall become burning pitch.
Night and day it shall not be quenched;
its smoke shall go up forever.
From generation to generation it shall lie waste;
none shall pass through it forever and ever.
But the hawk and the porcupine shall possess it,
the owl and the raven shall dwell in it.
He shall stretch the line of confusion over it,
and the plumb line of emptiness.
Its nobles—there is no one there to call it a kingdom,
and all its princes shall be nothing.

  • I don’t know about you, but this Word from the Lord does not strike me as favorable toward Edom and its people
  • I may address this and other prophecies again soon, as I think they may have possible fulfillment during this Israel-Hamas War that could in fact be the Psalm 83 War
  • Regardless, Edom and its people are not in favor with God
  • This being the case, does it make any sense that Edomites have taken the place of Jews in Israel?
  • They have a big-time curse hanging over them and they are not part of God’s covenant
  • What does the Bible say?
  • The people who concoct these fantasies out of thin air are just like what Paul describes 1 Corinthians 1:20:

Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

  • The greater argument in all this is exactly what God declared would happen with His people Israel
  • He promised that he would regather them
  • He promised that the land of Israel would bloom once more
  • He promised that the Jews who rejected Jesus as Messiah would someday see Him in His glory – sadly for them it will be too late
  • But for the Jews who endure through the punishment of the Tribulation that God enacts on them in the Time of Jacob’s Trouble – not Esau’s Trouble, not Gentile-Fake-Jews-Trouble, not Edom’s Trouble, not Christian’s Trouble – one-third of all Jews in that period with the others being persecuted and killed – this remnant will finally admit and joyously sing: “Blessed is He who Comes in the Name of the Lord” as they worship Jesus Christ, their true Messiah
  • For this prophetic fulfillment to occur, real Jews, descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob will be there to find their real salvation in the One they pierced
  • This idea that Jews aren’t real and don’t inhabit the land is utter foolishness
  • One more final point . . .
  • God placed His Name in Jerusalem
  • Israel is the land He chose as the Jews the people He designated through which to bring blessings to the world
  • As I’ve noted many times, here is God’s Word in this matter as stated in Deuteronomy 32:9:

But the Lord’s portion is his people,
Jacob his allotted heritage.

  • God’s will and purposes will prevail
  • This means that even in the midst of the chaos of war, He will make sure that Israel will not be taken by anyone else for their possession
  • In this current conflict, I think Israel will face great difficulties
  • There will be much loss of life on both sides
  • The world will condemn Israel
  • But God doesn’t care about that
  • Remember, He laughs at the world and the foolishness of man
  • There are many prophecies still to come that revolve around and in Israel
  • They will happen just as God plans
  • This means that Israel will not be eradicated
  • The Ezekiel 38 War of Gog and Magog is still to come, which means Israel has to get back to a point of dwelling securely without wall, bars, or gates
  • That’s hard to imagine right now, but God will not be thwarted by mere man
  • The third temple must be built and Israel must be in a position to sign a treaty with some future entity intent on being a scourge to her
  • My advice is to continue praying for the peace of Jerusalem, just as God’s Word instructs us
  • That peace won’t be realized until the Millennium, but at that time Jesus will sit on His throne in Jerusalem ruling over Israel, His Chosen People the Jews, and all the rest of the world
  • That peace is difficult to see right now, but God has everything in His hand
  • All this will happen with Israel and the Jews – real Jews – gaining victory over those who hate her and likely emerging as a power greatly to be feared by the rest of the world
  • Even as Jesus taught His disciples to pray in Matthew 6:10:

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

The map you showed of how reprobate minds see Israel as being gigantic compared to the rest of the world is nothing more than Satan shoving more of his kool-aid for lost souls to drink…after 1967 the myth of Palestine has been one of Satan’s biggest whoppers of the last 50+ years…Today’s pastors need to get with the program but as you have mentioned the whole world is too drunk on “the kool-aid “

I am just feeling so discouraged. It seems like so many church people, in the conservative area where I live, seem silent. Our church has slowly seemed to slip over the past year from clear rapture teaching to blips of replacement theology! It seems like so many conservative people and Christians are edging away from Israel and the conflict and saying it is a “distraction” from what is going on in the US homeland. Really, I think what is going on in the middle east right now it is not a distraction, it is apart or precursors to some big time Biblical Events! Stuff happening here is actually a distraction from what it seems like the end times events playing right before our eyes. I feel in a way we are literally back in the “Bible days”. We are watching all these things fortold in the Bible happen right before our eyes and it is mind boggling to me how many Christians seem to be missing it! Things are literally leaping out the Bible’s pages at break neck speed and as scary and overwhelming as all this is, I feel so privileged to be able to watch all of this. If it is God’s will, it would be an absolute amazing miracle to be apart of the last generation and end times church that the Bible spoke about thousands of years ago. But yet, everyone is talking about elections, problems with our country etc (all valid by the way) but all paling in significance to what seems to be happening by the hour to the entire world.

It is astounding how so much of the church is either silent or not on God’s side, i.e. standing with Israel. Of course there are issues in that country, but we’re doing so much better? Blindness and deception are soaring and the church is going along for the ride.

Thank you for raising the bar with each study.
You are a breath of fresh air in such troubled times as is written. God Bless your work.

Thank you. I’m amazed at how good God has been to me and my family; that includes how He keeps giving me inspiration as to things to write. This psalm is so true: Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him.

    Hello Gary,
I have read many of your articles but this will be my first time to comment. I am a pastor of a small church in Tennessee. I have been preaching Bible prophecy and a pretrib rapture since 1978. I too am amazed at the number of pastors who are not zeroing in on what is happening in our world and seeing these things through the eyes of God’s word and prophecy. I stand 100% behind God’s word and that includes praying for, and blessing the people and nation of Israel.
Please pray for me as I am completing a three-week series on Israel. No matter what the world says or does, every single promise of God’s perfect word will be fulfilled.
May we all be faithful and strong in the Lord to do His will and fulfill His purpose until we hear those magnificent words, “Come up here!” Even so, Come Lord Jesus!
May the Lord’s favor and blessings be upon you as you teach and reach the world for Christ.

I appreciate it, and I’m thankful that you’re holding fast to the truth of God’s Word. It a rarity these days! God bless!

Israel will bloom! Pastor jack Hibbs illustrated like a cactus blooming like roses. An Israeli born Jew I knew said Tucson where I live is just Israel. I look to the mountains here and wow it will be incredible when Israel blooms! Can’t wait!

Thank you very much Gary and all praise to the LORD our God for it confirms other articles I have been reading recently. Even last night at a Bible study/Prayer Meeting for Israel that I lead I was saying things that you have written in this update. We read Isaiah 63 and 64, I mentioned that mankind have their plans but God has the final word.
Also, when God opens our eyes to see what He is doing, opens our ears to hear what He is saying and our spiritual hearts are in complete agreement with God’s plan our cry becomes as loud as we can make it … YOUR KINGDOM COME.
He is a very merciful God to ALL who cry out to Him. Trust Him and Him alone. Psalm 91:1-2

God is in control of everything going on right now. Of that we can have absolute confidence. But I, being the kind of person I am, always want to know what God is up to. When persecution began to ramp up against Jews in the USA and a few scattered places in Europe not too long ago, I was in tears and fear for them all. But God told me He has said in His Word that they all must come back home to Israel. Now, with Jewish persecution becoming more and more deadly and pervasive, I was again in despair, until He suddenly made me understand: all His people must return to Israel before the start of Jacob’s trouble. He is orchestrating everything that is happening, and He is using it all to bring them to the place where they begin to earnestly seek Him. As we pray for our Jewish brothers and sisters of a common Heavenly Father, may their eyes, their ears, and their hearts be opened and their blindness removed. This is one of many of my prayers for God’s people.

    • Reply Gary Ritter

That’s such a good point! Jews everywhere will see how the world hates them and that they can find refuge only in the place God set aside and promised for them. He definitely has a plan for their salvation and those who dispute it will find they are disputing with God Himself. Not a good place to be!
