Awaken Bible Prophecy Update 5-1-24 – Engaging the Text; Asking Pertinent Questions

This concept of engaging the text, i.e. the Biblical text, and asking pertinent questions about it has been floating around in my head for the past week or so following my Prophecy Update from last Wednesday in which I commented about House Speaker Mike Johnson.  If possible, without directly getting too deep into the one Biblical issue I raise periodically that causes angst and pushback, I hope in this Commentary to suggest a method of examining God’s Word more fully so as to really think about what it says.  In fact, I want to make the subject somewhat broader by looking at several Biblical issues that seem to cause people to studiously avoid deeper inspection and understanding.

There are three of these items I want to discuss.  They are:

* Gods mentioned in the Bible
* Promises to Israel vs to the church
* If-then consequences in the Old versus New Testaments

Awaken Bible Prophecy Update 1-24-24 – Preterist Pretensions

A friend sent me a link to an online message from about three months ago in the aftermath of the October 7, 2023 atrocity of Hamas terrorists attacking Israel. In this Prophecy Update I’ll go over what the pastor said, why he’s wrong despite how self-assured he was, and discuss why it’s so hard to find common ground in the Christian community when our eschatological, i.e. our end-times, beliefs vary so widely.

Awaken Bible Prophecy Update 11-22-23 – The Warning of Israel’s Broken Glass

Those who read or listen to my preaching on this topic today are probably going to be the choir.  As you might imagine, people gravitate to Bible teachers they tend to agree with.  For instance, I’ll only listen to somebody spouting Replacement Theology nonsense if I’m researching that person; certainly not as a regular diet. …

Biblical Audio Commentary – A Signal for Destruction

The prophecy of Isaiah 11:10-16 is quite interesting, if potentially speaking of our current day events surrounding the Israel-Hamas War. Its verses certainly detail a future time. The question is: When?

Isaiah describes a second regathering of the people of Israel from many areas. When was the first? Presumably in the time of Nehemiah. This, the second and pertinent one, is that of Israel coming together as a nation in 1948 and subsequent to that.

As I mentioned in my recent Commentary titled Aliya, God is doing a work in the hearts of Jews worldwide right now – a tugging at their very being so that they immigrate to Israel so as to fulfill the Lord’s purposes. He has not forgotten or abandoned His People Israel; rather He is in the process of doing something truly amazing that the world will gawk at and exclaim about: that because He has done such miracles – He is truly God Almighty. But that day is still a little ways off.

Biblical Audio Commentary – Aliya

The unprovoked attack by the terrorist group Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023 has unleashed the inner demons in the rest of the world – including in the church.

Although many in the alt-right movement correctly – in my opinion – add this to the list of issues and events that the globalist cabal has planned, so that war indeed would result, they as secularists, and also much of Christendom, commenting on this topic totally miss the bigger picture.

Awaken Bible Prophecy Update 11-1-23: Jews Aren’t Really Jews & Other Follies

Psalm 137:5-6 recounts the ode of the Jewish people:

If I forget you, O Jerusalem,
let my right hand forget its skill!
Let my tongue stick to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember you,
if I do not set Jerusalem
above my highest joy!

Given the fact that the whole world is drunk with hostility toward Israel and the Jews, including a large portion of the professing Christian community, just like this psalm, we also must continue keeping God’s Promised Land and His Chosen People front and center.
