Psalm 59:2 – Those Who Work Evil

The inscription of Psalm 59 immediately made me think of that which has begun in certain U.S. states and is certain to spread like wildfire.  The pertinent phrase of the inscription says:

… of David, when Saul sent men to watch his house in order to kill him.

In this current climate of panic porn regarding COVID-19, the autocratic, dictatorial disposition of many with governmental authority and power is coming out in full bloom.  The people in these positions are projecting their inner desires to control and dominate others.  No longer is the deceitful wickedness of their hearts hidden; it is being completely displayed for all to see and suffer from who are the target of their burning need to rule over.

I write, of course, about the latest folly with regard to “vaccinating” against COVID.  The evil agenda to ensure that everyone receives these COVID shots is accelerating.  They initially created fear and got a segment of the population to submit to the “horrors” of the disease.  Then they incentivized by offering giveaways from free ice cream to lottery tickets if people would take the shot.  Then they began talking up vaccine passports as the means to gain compliance.  Without proof of vaccination, no one will be able to keep his job or buy and sell.  Now, because some number of people are awake to the dangers of these untested, poisonous compounds that are called vaccines, the government has declared it will go door-to-door to “educate” the ignorant masses and “offer” the jabs on the spot.  Where this goes is anyone’s guess, but the general thinking of the wary is that it may very well lead to violence and/or incarceration in FEMA camps.

We have traversed the proverbial slippery slope from a free self-governed people to a society ruled by a tyrannical few.  Although this condition in our nation has been years in the making, the rapid slide to what we’re now experiencing has happened in the space of only a year and a half.  What the Marxist/communist Left has planned and worked toward for one hundred years in order to take down this country, is finally realizing its bitter fruit.  We who stand against this oppression are labeled extremists and enemies of the State.  Comprised generally of conservatives and Christians, this group is being marginalized and will soon be persecuted to a level never before conceived in America.  Imagine, having goon squads sent to the doors of every vaccine refusenik!  “Take the jab or suffer the consequences.”  And the consequences aren’t contracting COVID and dying.  No, they are to be forced into re-education camps or be shot for resisting.  Believe me: this is coming.

And so, we can echo what David wrote in Psalm 59:1-4:

Deliver me from my enemies, O my God;

    protect me from those who rise up against me;

deliver me from those who work evil,

    and save me from bloodthirsty men.

For behold, they lie in wait for my life;

    fierce men stir up strife against me.

For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord,

    for no fault of mine, they run and make ready.

Awake, come to meet me, and see!

Our enemies are truly all around us.  In the past, thinking this way would be labeled as paranoia; no more!  But we who love the Lord have a secret.  It’s actually one we should be shouting on the rooftops.  In fact, God has told us we must.

What is this secret?  Psalm 59:8 tells us:

But you, O Lord, laugh at them;

    you hold all the nations in derision.

None of this takes God by surprise.  He’s more than ready for it and even laughs in the faces of those who think they can destroy Him and His people.  It is why we can pray just like David did in Psalm 59:12-13 and be assured of God’s intervention in this way:

For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips,

    let them be trapped in their pride.

For the cursing and lies that they utter,

    consume them in wrath;

    consume them till they are no more,

that they may know that God rules over Jacob

    to the ends of the earth. Selah

Where does our confidence come from that we need not fear?  Oh, listen to Psalm 59:16 and lift up your voice:

But I will sing of your strength;

    I will sing aloud of your steadfast love in the morning.

For you have been to me a fortress

    and a refuge in the day of my distress.

The Lord indeed is our Mighty Fortress.  In Him we have the necessary strength to stand.  It is in our Lord Jesus Christ that we rest and have the confidence that whatever comes our way, nothing that man does can bring us harm.

We trust in You, O Lord, that You will deliver us from the hand of man into Your presence.

    Absolutely right – God is not surprised by any of this. His Word is a lamp to our feet and lights our path. As we keep our eyes on Him, and on His promises, our victory and salvation is eternally secure. If God is for us, who can be against us?! Thank you for a great article – God bless you!
